Number of vacancies for Moscow graduates will increase

In Moscow a particular attention is paid to the youth employment. The Graduate employment program has come into existence in the capital city of Russia. Even at the height of the crisis the situation with citizens’ employment in Moscow still remained quite satisfactory, even young people with no work experience had the chance to find free vacancies: according to the Moscow Labour and Employment Department the total number of graduates registered in the employment service does not exceed 4,500, while in 2009 this number amounted to 9 thousand.

Moscow Youth Employment Day took place on June 3, 2010. Not only the Moscow Government committees and departments participated there but also major Moscow employers, educational institutions, recruitment agencies, media representatives who regularly place their job advertisements.

The city recruitment agency came up with the largest job bank amounting to 190 thousand job vacancies. Young people could get acquainted with the offered jobs in the training centers. The youngsters spoke with personnel officers about the vacancies they have, requirements to the job seekers and salary rates. This conversation with no middleman helped young inexperienced people to familiarize themselves with the labour market. Everyone willing could attend consultations, trainings and workshops on business communication with an employer free of charge.

All the companies recruited young people in full conformity with the Labour Law of the Russian Federation. Quite a number of the visitors got to learn what the hiring procedure is, signed the employment agreement for the first time and got acquainted with the rights and obligations of employees and employers. Nearly four thousand youngsters signed employment agreements on this day.

Job fairs are also being held in Moscow on the regular basis — they enable the youth to get familiar with the labour and business activity, not to get lost at the labour market and to find a suitable job with reliable employer. The majority of the companies which offer vacancies for underage people are private but some of them are state-owned.

Recruitment agencies representatives help the youngsters to find the most interesting vacancies, tell them about the current state of the employment market. Those who have not decided yet what job to choose can consult psychologists who hold individual consultations and vocational test. Basically, fourteen year old teens who do not know yet which career to choose turn to psychologists for help.

Such vacancies as a promoter, special messenger, sales assistant, manager’s assistant, journalist’s assistant are the most popular with pupils. Young people have the opportunity to become familiar with the office work and the essentials of the business etiquette. Boys and girls show a huge respect for the social worker vacancy. 14—18 year old teens can perform the duties of a social worker — to render social assistance to the unemployable. The main duties are to clean the flat, to assist during the stroll, accompany during a visit to the ambulatory-care clinic, to read books out loud.
