Today tennis in Moscow is one of the most popular kinds of amateur sports; it occupies a special niche of status leisure in urban culture. The Russian capital has been passionately playing tennis for a long time already, arranging domestic competitions on country courts and tracing news of Wimbledon, French Open, US and Australian Open.

It is possible to find tennis courts in Moscow suited to every fancy — open and indoor, with any coating (asphalt, wooden, clay, artificial grass, sports lawn, various kinds of synthetic coating). And the courts are within the Russian capital and outside — in the Moscow Region green zone. Courts are usually located in the grounds of the complexes existing for a long time or specially constructed for the sports purposes. Practically always there are rental centers, convenient locker rooms and leisure infrastructure — cafes and restaurants and tennis equipment stores close to the equipped courts.
