Art Shows
As a great philosopher once said, art imitates life, and the way Moscow is portrayed in art is certainly no exception: it opens a new dimension to understanding the very essence of the Russian capital. Old Moscow’s intricate beauty reflected in paintings by Apollinary Vasnetsov, Alexei Savrasov, Vasily Polenov, and other famous Russian painters never fails to impress modern artists.
Petrovsky Vernissage, Moscow’s first art exhibition hall, dates back to the start of the 20th century. It housed a permanent exhibition of the Russian-Swedish company Severnaya Kompaniya, which specialized in the sale of decorative furniture, interior design objects, and articles made of ceramics, bronze, and copper.
At art shows in contemporary Moscow, one can purchase art objects, paintings, graphic artworks, china, bronze, and furniture — both antique and that made by Moscow craftsmen of the 21st century.
