Bookstores

Moscow is undoubtedly a reading city. Muscovites read in any place and at any time: at home, at work, on public transport, and in their leisure time. Even the rapid advent of e-books has not managed to weaken their love for the “real” paper book, which is exactly why the city’s bookstores are never empty. The range of books continues to increase: reference books, encyclopedias, manuals, prose, poetry, memoirs, art albums, cookbooks, etc. Friendly store staff are always available to help you make the right choice.

In the halls of central stores, one may even find touch screens with browsable store inventories, which can help you look for the books you need and direct you to the exact row and shelf where they are stocked. Can’t find the book you need? Leave a special order just as you would at a library. As soon as your book arrives, you will be notified. Several major booksellers also have internet stores.

By the way, Muscovites’ passion for reading is so strong it recently forced the Moskva bookstore on Tverskaya Street to keep its doors open until 1 a.m. Unfortunately, it isn’t open 24 hours!
