Healthcare in Moscow

Health care for Moscow residents and visitors is undertaken by the Moscow Health Care Department and provided by a broad network of out-patient clinics , hospitals , preventive medical institutions, and pharmacies . Over 250 thousand people are engaged in health care sector, the amount of medical staff exceeds 2 million people.

Moscow guests and visitors get guaranteed medical assistance; its quality is constantly improved by introduction of latest diagnosis methods and permanent correction of medical technologies. Scientific support of practical medicine by leading medical universities of Moscow and Russia has special importance for the development of health care in the Russian capital. Medicament supplies are under constant control of Moscow Government and the Health Care Department.

At present in Moscow there are almost 2,000 pharmacies , over 400 clinics  for children and adults, about 100 common and specialized city hospitals, 53 ambulance stations, 13 scientific practical Moscow-subordinate centres, and 7 diagnostic centres. In 2008 10 round-the-clock ambulance stations were organized at the MKAD (Moscow Automobile Ring Road), three more stations — at the Third Ring Road, so that ambulance cars can quickly reach the accident site.

Almost all leading medical institutions under federal control and major scientific practical centres of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences are situated in Moscow.

Several thousand modern commercial medical centres with a license for medical practice offer their high-quality services to patients.
