Vnukovo International Airport is located 11 kilometres beyond the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), and 27 kilometres from the city centre. The contemporary infrastructure installed at this fully-upgraded airport enables it to handle 6,800 passengers per hour, and a total number of 120,000 flights every year. The destination network of the airport numbers over 450 international and Russian routes, served by around 200 airlines. From Vnukovo you can easily get to a great number of world cities, and most of Russia’s regions.
Vnukovo International Airport has three different terminals, called Terminals A, B, and D – plus a VIP lounge which is situated in a separate building. Terminal A serves all Russian domestic flights (except for flights to and from the North Caucasus), and also regular international flights on Aigle Air, Georgian Airways, Lufthansa, Transaero, Turkish Airlines and Yakutia Airlines – as well as UTAir’s European flight network. Terminal B is primarily for charter airlines, and also serves scheduled flights on airlines including Bluebird Airways, Bulgaria Air, Germanwings, Syrian Arab Airlines, and some other flights. Terminal D is not fully operational at present, and the only flights currently functioning are those serving the Russian areas of the North Caucasus.
Most of the flights served by Vnukovo Airport offer online check-in. You can also complete check-in formalities and check your baggage in person at the airport. You can also check-in for your flight at Kievsky Railway Station in Moscow, which is the departure station for the AeroExpress serving Vnukovo Airport. If you choose to check in at Kievsky Railway Station, you must do it not later than three hours before your flight’s scheduled departure.
You can get to or from Vnukovo by car – or by taxi (departures from Kievsky Railway Station are the best option other best routes are by either Minskoye Highway or Borovskoye Highway). There are also bus services running from Yugozapadnaya Underground Station (look for the stop for buses numbered 611, 611С и 611Ф, route taxi No. 45). The AeroExpress electric train offers a modern and comfortable service, running non-stop to the airport from Kievsky Railway Station. The AeroExpress service will take you directly to the central rail terminal of Vnukovo Airport in 35 minutes.
